NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Zach Kaden and Bret Marlowe opened Sunday morning's match with a pair of wins for the 43rd-ranked Haverford College men's squash team, but No. 37 Tufts University rallied with wins in six of the next seven matches to spoil the Fords' upset bid in the Jumbos' 6-3 victory at the Yale University squash courts.

Tufts (2-9) reeled off four consecutive wins after Kaden won at No. 9 and Marlowe at No. 8 to give the Fords (1-8) an initial 2-0 advantage. John Cummings picked up a win for Haverford at No. 7 to trim the Jumbos' lead to just 4-3 but Tufts pulled out wins in the final two matches of the day to ice the victory.

Kaden's win came by scores of 11-3, 11-5 and 11-8 over Danny Fischer. Marlowe posted an even more dominant opening-game win, 11-2, before finishing off Tufts' Owen Elliott by 11-5 and 11-8 scores over the final two games.

Cummings dropped his first game, 11-4, against Jeremy Aronson but the Haverford senior created momentum with an 11-6 win in the second to even the score, then powered to the match victory by scores of 11-3 and 11-2.

The Fords return from New England to a home contest in their next match-up, Thursday, Jan. 23, at the GIAC Squash Courts where they will take on No. 33 MIT.
