Men's Squash Falls to Dickinson; Beats Vassar

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College men's squash team split its home doubleheader, dropping an 8-1 decision to the Dickinson College Red Devils, but scoring a 9-0 sweep over the Vassar College Valiants at the GIAC Squash Courts on Saturday afternoon.

In the first match of the day, freshman Ryan Dukarm secured the only victory for the Fords with a 3-0 victory (11-7, 11-5, 12-10). Andrew Strudwick registered the clinching win for Dickinson at the No. 5 position. In the exhibition match, junior Chris Hoogstraten found himself down, 2-1, but rallied with a close 11-9 victory in game four and an 11-5 decision in game five to win the match.

The Fords had no trouble against the Valiants, winning every match to pick up their fourth win of the season. Eight of the nine matches were sweeps.

Senior Will Greer took down his opponent at the No. 8 position to clinch the match for Haverford. Senior Laurenson Ward moved into a tie for ninth on the all-time wins list with his 26th career victory. Sophomore Zach Cole, freshmen Yash Singh, Dukarm and senior Jonathan Nguyen all nabbed their fourth victories of the season in the match.  

Haverford stands at 4-2 on the young season and will travel to Drexel next Friday (Nov. 20). The match is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
