POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The Haverford College men's squash team split the day at Vassar on Saturday, taking down the host Brewers 8-1, but falling to Connecticut College, 9-0. Haverford took all but one of its eight wins against the hosts in three sets. The Fords sit at 3-1 on the young season following the split in Poughkeepsie.

Haverford 8, Vassar 1

In the second match of the day against Vassar, Aaron Horwitz, Ben Soloway and Cyrus Bahadori were the standouts for Haverford, playing exceptionally well throughout their matches against the upstart Brewers. Horwitz took down Sam Hammer 11-1, 11-5, 11-2 while Soloway blasted past Issac Stuart 11-6, 11-7, 11-3.  Bahadori, a freshman playing in just his second weekend of collegiate action, swept Lucas Fifer 11-6, 11-1, 11-2.

Yash Singh, Alex Liu and Ryan Dukarm also all extended their individual records to 3-1 with triumphs in the sweep over the hosts. Haverford improves to 16-12 all-time against Vassar and 6-5 in road matches. Last season, the Fords posted a 9-0 win over the Brewers at the GIAC Squash Courts.

Connecticut College 9, Haverford 0

Despite a lopsided scoreline, Haverford had many close individual matches and an overall score that could have gone much differently against the Camels. Freshman Tate Miller competed at the No. 2 spot on the ladder and lost in fifth-game overtime to Matt Lillie, 15-13.

Peter Dudley was also defeated at the No. 1 spot on the ladder in a five-game epic after grabbing the first two games against Michael Rodriguez.

The match was one of the longest on the day and Dudley was able to keep his composure throughout despite a match that featured many stoppages. Aaron Horwitz took a game from John Dunham and Shilin Jog was able to take Benji Osajie to four games in other action down the ladder.

Haverford falls to 5-10 all time against Connecticut College and 4-9 at neutral sites.

The Fords will next return to action on December 3, facing Swarthmore in the annual Hood Trophy matchup. The match is slated for noon at the GIAC Squash Courts.
