Men's Squash Turned Away In 2017 Opener At Wesleyan

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The Haverford Men's Squash team was downed by No. 25 Tufts and No. 23 Wesleyan on Friday afternoon, falling 7-2 to Tufts before an 8-1 loss to the hosts as the 2017 portion of the schedule got underway. Haverford falls to 4-3 on the season after the pair of defeats at the Rosenbaum Squash Center on the Wesleyan campus.

The Fords registered a pair of wins against the Jumbos (8-2), with Ryan Dukarm prevailing at the seven spot on the ladder in a five game thriller (13-11, 7-11, 10-12, 12-10, 11-6) and Cyrus Bahadori picking up his fifth individual win (8-11, 11-7, 11-3, 11-8) of the season at the ninth and final spot on the ladder. Elsewhere, Zach Cole made his season debut pushing Amun Sahrawat to five games before falling in the decisive game 11-6 while Peter Dudley, Yash Singh and Shilin Jog also picked up a game before dropping their matches.

#23 Wesleyan 8, #30 Haverford College 1

Wesleyan proved to be a tougher challenge for the Fords, as Bahadori was the only member of the squad to prevail, taking down Johnny Hayes in five games (7-11, 11-7, 11-7, 7-11, 12-10) at the ninth position to move to 6-1 on the season individually. Peter Dudley took a game at the second spot on the ladder, pushing David Sneed to four games with an 11-5 win in the second stanza.

The Fords will continue play this weekend as the squad returns to action tomorrow at noon against Northeastern and visits host MIT at 6:00 p.m. as part of the MIT Round Robin in Cambridge, Mass. The weekend wraps up with a 9:30 a.m. meeting with Northwestern on Sunday.
