HAVERFORD, Pa. - Haverford College Men's Squash senior co-captain Aaron Horwitz has been named a Scholar Athlete by the College Squash Association (CSA), the organization announced in a press release this week.

In order to be recognized, one must be a junior and senior who have earned two varsity letters while maintaining a cumulative 3.5 grade point average. The recipients also must have played a majority of the schedule in a top-10 ladder position for CSA sanctioned matches during the season and be enrolled in his school for a full year prior to the present term.

Horwitz, also an Ambler Scholar-Athlete, competed as the sole senior in the Haverford ladder in 2017 as the squad eclipsed its program best single season win total this year. Horwitz went 3-0 individually at the CSA team championships to help Haverford claim the Chaffee Cup with triumphs over Washington, Boston College and Bucknell on consecutive days.

In the final against Bucknell, Horwitz faced Nick Desrosier at the match at the #3 position, earning a four-game victory (10-12, 11-4, 11-3, and 11-3). Haverford defeated Bucknell, 5-4 to capture the Chaffee Cup championship.

Horwitz leaves the program with 36 individual wins, the fourth most in program history.
