HAVERFORD, Pa. – Coming off one of the best seasons in program history, the Haverford Men's Squash team hopes to reach even greater heights in the 2017-18 season. Buoyed by a strong ladder that lost only one senior and gains four incoming first-year student-athletes, the Fords are a confident and focused group chasing competitive excellence as a team. Haverford comes into the 2017-18 campaign with the No. 31 overall ranking in College Squash Association (CSA) preseason rankings.

Last season, the Fords finished with a program-record 15 victories and the No. 33 overall ranking after capturing the Chaffee Cup (E Division).  The victory was the fourth overall CSA division title for Haverford, as the Fords also took home the Serues Cup (F Division) title in 2011-12 and have captured the Conroy Cup (D Division) twice, in 1999-00 and 2001-02.

Haverford will be without Aaron Horwitz, last season's lone member of the senior class. Horwitz, a Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area selection and Ambler Award winner, was named the Chaffee Cup division's top player after going 3-0 at the team championships, guiding the Fords to the trophy with triumphs over Washington, Boston College and Bucknell. Horwitz leaves Haverford with 36 individual wins, good for fourth in program history.

Juniors Ryan Dukarm and Yash Singh each tallied 15 wins a season ago, eclipsing a program single-season record held by Tim Saint '01/2. Co-captain seniors Zach Cole (34 wins) and Peter Dudley (33 wins) both enter the season in sight of Saint's program-best 44 career wins.

In 2017-18, the new-look ladder figures to be anchored by sophomore Tate Miller, who posted 13 wins competing in the first two spots on the ladder a season ago, including victories at No. 1 in the Chaffee Cup semifinal and final against Boston College and Bucknell, respectively. Miller also represented Haverford at the CSA Individual Championships in March. Newcomers Davis Chase, Fitz Dougherty, Andre Giglio and Thomas Kaye join an experienced crop of returners including Dudley, Cole, Dukarm, Singh, Miller, Keshav Kalani and Alex Liu.

The Fords host their only home contest of the 2017 portion of the schedule on November 18 as rival Swarthmore visits the GIAC Squash Courts. Haverford is 11-0 in matches against the Garnet dating back to the first meeting during the 1994 season.

Haverford then faces a formidable stretch of seven-straight ranked opponents including No. 16 Bates and No. 34 Vassar (Dec. 2), No. Tufts and No. 30 Connecticut College (Jan. 16), No. 25 Wesleyan and No. 23 Colby (Jan. 19) and No. 29 Hamilton (Jan. 20). The doubleheader action against Tufts and Connecticut College is the lone home action in the January portion of the schedule before Haverford hosts four straight home matches in February to conclude the regular season slate.

The action all begins tomorrow with the Navy Round Robin in Annapolis, Md. Haverford will face No. 33 Fordham (2:30 p.m.) and Boston University (5 p.m.). to begin the season at the Halsey Field House.
