HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College men's squash team split the day at the GIAC Squash Courts, falling to #28 Tufts, 7-2, before coming back in the later afternoon to take down #29 Connecticut College, 5-4. The win over the Camels represents the first win for Haverford over Connecticut College since November 8, 2003. The win is also the first over a NESCAC program since that date. Haverford is now 5-2 on the season after opening the 2018 portion of the schedule on Tuesday.

Against the Jumbos, Haverford had its best results at the top of the ladder. Davis Chase took Alan Litman to five games at the second spot on the ladder before falling 11-8, 11-7, 8-11, 7-11, 11-8. Peter Dudley got the best of Brett Raskopf in a thrilling five-game match that was the last of the afternoon to finish. Dudley took the first game 11-9 before dropping a 4-11 decision.

Rallying back, Dudley grabbed a 15-13 victory to take a 2-1 lead in games. Raskopf won the fourth 11-9 before Dudley prevailed with a decisive 11-5 victory in the fifth game. Fitz Dougherty beat Walker Wind in four games, dropping just the second game en route to the victory.

In the late afternoon match, the Fords were able to get past the Camels with wins at the second, third, fourth, eighth and ninth spot on the ladder.

As was the case with the first match of the day, Dudley and Dougherty each took wins over their opposition. Dudley swept Jon Dunham (11-7, 11-8, 11-4) while Dougherty dropped the first game to Daniel Reisman before responding with three straight games won (11-5, 11-6, 11-7). Davis Chase made quick work of Michael Rodriguez after a hard fought victory in game one (15-13, 11-7, 11-4).

Yash Singh and Alex Liu brought it home for the Fords, holding down the bottom of the ladder and dispatching their opposition in gritty battles. Liu outlasted Louis Feingold in a five-game thriller (10-12, 11-4, 14-12, 4-11, 11-9) while Singh dropped the first game to Winston Simone before charging to three straight wins (7-11, 11-4, 11-9, 11-5).

Through seven matches, the Fords are 5-2, one win above the pace from last year's eventual Chaffee Cup champions, a squad that set the record for most regular season wins in program history.

Individually, Dudley edges closer to the Haverford all-time victories lead. Dudley currently has 39 individual victories while teammate and fellow co-captain Zach Cole has 38. Tim Saint has the all-time program record with 44 career individual victories.

Haverford returns to action on Friday as the Fords head to the Pioneer Valley Invitational. Haverford matches up with #30 Wesleyan (12:00 p.m.) and #23 Colby (4:00 p.m.) on Friday at Amherst before taking on #26 Hamilton (12:00 p.m) at Amherst and #32 Stanford (4:00 p.m.) at Smith on Saturday.
