AMHERST, Mass. – The Haverford Men's Squash team split the second and final day of the Pioneer Valley Invitational, falling to #26 Hamilton before storming back to take down #32 Stanford. Haverford is now 7-4 on the season as play in January concludes.

#26 Hamilton 7, #31 Haverford 2

The Fords were faced with a formidable opposition in Hamilton, as the 26th-ranked squad won seven out of nine individual matches. Haverford had perhaps its best performance of the day from Peter Dudley, as Dudley swept past John Sawyers at the third spot on the ladder (11-8, 11-6, 11-7).

Fitz Dougherty got the best of Nicholas Conzelman at the fourth spot, outlasting his opposition in five games. Dougherty lost the first two games of the match before roaring back with three straight victories (9-11, 8-11, 11-6, 11-6, 11-4).

Yash Singh took Ward Urban to five games at the eighth spot on the ladder (11-3, 6-11, 11-8, 9-11, 11-9) while Davis Chase took his opponent Callum Sondhi to four games at the second spot on the ladder (11-1, 9-11, 11-6, 11-9). Alex Liu fell to Will Jordan 9-11, 11-6, 11-7, 11-8, but not before capturing the first game.

#31 Haverford College 7, #32 Stanford 2

The Fords were able to get past the Cardinal 7-2, turning around the 7-2 loss from earlier in the day. Yousef Hindy took down Tate Miller in straight sets before Chase outlasted Raghav Mehotra in five games. Dudley, Dougherty and Andre Giglio provided wins at the second through fifth spot on the ladder.

Zach Cole fell to an upstart challenger in Samuel Premutico, but Thomas Kaye, Yash Singh and Alex Liu all downed their oppositions to help secure the win for the Fords.

Haverford picked up its first win over Stanford since the first meeting between the two schools in November of 1999.

The Fords will next return to action on February 3 at home, taking on No. 17 Dickinson (10:30 a.m.) and No. 48 NYU (3:30 p.m.) at the GIAC Squash Courts.
