Virtual Senior Days: Haverford College Men's Squash Class of 2021

With the 2020-21 winter sports unable to hold traditional Senior Days on campus, the Haverford College Athletic Department is recognizing these seniors in a virtual ceremony, with some special help from their teammates. Today, we celebrate the careers of Haverford College men's squash seniors captains Davis Chase and Fitz Dougherty.


Haverford College Men's Squash Class of 2021

  • Team reached double-digit wins in each of these seniors three competitive seasons on campus 
  • Squad has now had a winning record in each of the last four seasons, the first time in program history the squad has had three consecutive winning seasons 
  • Ranked 28th at the end of the 2017-18 season, the highest year-end ranking for the program since 2004-05 season 
  • Team competed at the CSA Team Championships Conroy Cup in each of the last three seasons

Davis Chase • Chemistry major (Biochemistry concentration) • Pomfret, Conn. • Pomfret School

  • Team captain each of the last two seasons
  • Played exclusively at the top three spots on the ladder for the Fords, playing only at No. 1 during each of the last two seasons
  • Guided the team to the CSA Team Championships, anchoring a Conroy Cup squad
  • Recorded 32 wins despite playing just three competitive seasons, ranking 12th all-time in program history
  • During a standout sophomore campaign, went 13-4 in team competition and began the season on a seven-match win streak
  • Represented Haverford at the CSA Individual Championships after both the 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons
  • Named a College Squash Association (CSA) Scholar Athlete following the 2019-20 season 

Fitz Dougherty • Environmental Studies major • Villanova, Pa. • Shipley School 

  • Team captain each of the last two seasons
  • Team-best 13-6 record during the 2019-20 season, splitting time between the second, third, and fourth spots on the ladder
  • Secured all but one of his wins in the 2019-20 season via sweep 
  • Tied for fifth in program history with 40 career wins in just three seasons as he was poised to take over the wins record before the Covid-19 pandemic 
  • Will graduate as Haverford's career winning percentage leader among players with at least 15 match wins (40-12, .769). 
  • Started his Haverford tenure with a first year campaign that ended in historic fashion as he set the program record for wins by a first year player (14) 
  • Named to the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area team after the 2018-19 season
  • Earned College Squash Association (CSA) Scholar-Athlete status after the 2019-20 campaign
