ITA announces official All-American list, includes Caulfield

SKILLMAN, N.J. – Kevin Caulfield of the Haverford College men's tennis team had known the good news for several weeks, but not until Wednesday evening did the word become official as the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) finally released its 2013 Division III All-American team with Caulfield among the 31 honorees in men's singles action.

An administrative decision process caused the ITA's delayed announcement for an all-American list that is usually published within days of the completion of the team, singles and doubles championship tournaments which occurred in late May.

Caulfield, who graduated in May, was selected for the NCAA championship singles tournament and won his opening match in the round of 32 before falling to the eventual national champion in the round of 16.

The ITA had previously released its national rankings for players and Caulfield was 42nd in singles and 25th in doubles with partner Danny Himelstein.

With 57 career wins in singles, Caulfield leaves the program in a tie for second on the all-time list. His 39 victories in doubles ties for seventh-most in the program.

A four-time first-team All-Centennial Conference singles player, Caulfield also earned three first-team selections in doubles and was the league's 2013 Sportsmanship Award recipient as well as the ITA's 2013 Atlantic South Region winner of the Arthur Ashe Leadership & Sportsmanship Award.

Caulfield earned inclusion on the Centennial's academic honor roll each of his eligible years (2011, 2012, 2013) and was voted the Philadelphia Inquirer's academic all-area men's tennis performer of the year in consecutive years (2012, 2013).
