FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The Haverford College men's tennis team wrapped up play at the USTA/ITA Southeast Regional on Sunday with each of its "B" draw players making runs through the winner's bracket. The Fords tallied an overall record off 4-2 in the "B" brackets, a day that was highlighted by Eli Phelps' run to the semifinals of the B2 singles draw.

Phelps opened his singles tournament with an 8-6 victory against the host's Ryan Berry. Phelps secured the hard-fought win to move into the quarterfinals. Just like his opening match, Phelps was an 8-6 winner in the quarterfinals against Christopher Newport's Michael Dodd. Phelps was scheduled to play Axel Jobeus of Mary Washington in the semifinals. However, that match has not been played as of press time.

In the B1 singles draw, Haverford also found success in a pair of runs to the quarterfinals. Harrison Elbert opened his day with a convincing 8-3 win against Mary Washington's Joseph Dellenbeck. Elbert was stopped by rival Swarthmore's James Hahn in his quarterfinal match. Ishaan Prinz played a pair of tight 8-6 matches in his B1 singles tournament. Matched up against Centennial Conference foes in both of his matches, Prinz got past Dickinson's Sam Loring before a tough match against Washington College's Jake Sandler.

Sunday's matches marked the final action for the men's tennis team this fall. The team will return to formal competition this spring. Be sure to check back with HaverfordAthletics.com for the official release of the team's 2016 schedule.
