SWARTHMORE, Pa. – The Haverford College men's tennis team fell to No. 22 Swarthmore in its regular season finale on Saturday by a 7-2 score. Haverford got wins from the doubles team of Dais Nakayama and Josh Moskovitz, along with a victory from Zack Mason at No. 6 singles.

The Fords (13-3, 7-2 CC) finished the regular season in third place in the Centennial Conference and will now play second-seeded Johns Hopkins this coming Saturday in the conference semifinals. The Garnet (14-5, 9-0 CC) clinched home court advantage in the Centennial Conference Tournament with today's win.

Nakayama and Moskovitz put on a very impressive display in doubles as they won 8-4 in the middle doubles match. The Fords' second pairing finishes the regular season at 7-4 during the spring season, including a 5-2 record against conference competition. Haverford's top doubles pairing of Harrison Elbert and Luis Acaba threatened to give the Fords the early advantage before they were handed just their third loss of the spring by an 8-5 score.

Mason's win in singles came as one of three matches that were extended to 10-point tiebreaks. The Fords' senior dropped his opening set by a hard-fought 7-5 score, but bounced right back with a 6-2 second set in his favor. He sealed the victory by doubling up his opponent in the tiebreak, 10-5.

Acaba and Elbert also forced 10-point tiebreaks in their respective matches. Both were ultimately edged out with 11-9 scores in the tiebreak. Acaba won his first set by a 6-3 score. Elbert's set win came in the second as a 7-5 score in his advantage forced the tiebreak.

In addition to the top three seeds – Swarthmore, Johns Hopkins, and Haverford – Franklin & Marshall and Dickinson have also qualified for the conference tournament. Those two teams will play their first round match this Wednesday.
