ORLANDO, Fla. – The Haverford College men's tennis team opened up its Spring Break trip with a 9-0 sweep of Schreiner on Tuesday morning. The Fords (2-1) dropped just one set throughout their entire lineup as five different players were victorious in both singles and doubles against the Mountaineers (5-3).
The Fords have now swept doubles in each of their last two matches. The No. 2 pairing of Dais Nakayama and Kevin Yan stayed unbeaten with an 8-3 win in the middle of the lineup. The most convincing win of doubles play came with Rob Kresch and Ishaan Prinz picking up their second straight win together at No. 3 doubles, an 8-2 victory.
Reigning Centennial Conference Player of the Week Josh Moskovitz joined David Kong once again for the top doubles match. Haverford's No. 1 pairing emerged with an 8-5 win for its second straight victory together this spring.
Josh Moskovitz came right back for singles and allowed just one game in each set to his opponent at the top of the lineup. David Kong remained unbeaten in singles play this spring as he came away with a 6-1, 6-4 straight-set victory at No. 5 singles. He is a perfect 7-0 in singles dating back to the fall season.
Kevin Yan (No. 2 singles), Ishaan Prinz (No. 3), and Rob Kresch (No. 6) were also straight-set winners for the Fords. Prinz and Kresch won by identical 6-2, 6-1 scores in their respective matches. Kresch was making his spring singles debut, while Prinz has won two of his first three matches to start the season. Yan's victory saw the reigning Centennial Conference Rookie of the Year came through with a hard-fought 6-4 opening set before cruising to the win with a 6-1 victory in the second.
The only set Schreiner took all afternoon came at No. 3 singles as the Mountaineer player won the first by a 6-4 score. Nevertheless, first year Pranav Krishnan quickly turned the tables and evened the match with a 6-3 win in the second. Krishnan capped his second straight victory with a 10-5 win during the tiebreak.
Men's tennis will return to competition on Thursday for a 12 p.m. first serve against No. 37 Millsaps.
