Men's Tennis Topped by No. 19 Kenyon

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Facing its second nationally-ranked opponent in two days, the Haverford College men's tennis team fell to No. 19 Kenyon by a 9-0 score on Saturday morning. The Fords (6-4) showed great fight throughout the match, but were overcome by the Lords (10-2).

Raja Arul and Nick Sweeney played the closest match of the doubles competition as they took five games off of Kenyon's third doubles team. Pranav Krishnan and Ishaan Prinz played together for the first time all spring at No. 2 doubles and won four games during that match. At No. 1 doubles, Haverford's Dais Nakayama and Kevin Yan fell to Kenyon's regionally-ranked duo.

Pranav Krishnan had another strong showing at No. 3 singles and took his opponent to a decisive 10-point tiebreak. The first year got the jump in his singles match with a 6-4 win during the opening set. His opponent evened the score with a 6-3 second set and won the tiebreak by a 10-3 score.

With two regionally-ranked players at the top of its lineup, Kenyon got wins at No. 1 and No. 2 singles. Josh Moskovitz won five games at the top singles match, while Dais Nakayama was topped by the No. 41 player in the ITA national rankings. Haverford also won multiple games between Eli Phelps, Raja Arul, and Nick Sweeney in the Nos. 4 through 6 singles matches.

Men's tennis will be back at home next Wednesday as the Fords host Washington College in a 4 p.m. start. That match will be played alongside the women's match with WAC which is also slated for a 4 p.m. start.
