Men's Tennis Sinks Washington College, 9-0

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College men's tennis team knocked Washington College from the ranks of the conference unbeatens with a convincing 9-0 win on Wednesday afternoon. Playing inside the Alumni Field House, the Fords (7-4, 3-0 CC) swept through doubles and kept up that intensity in singles with six straight-set victories.

Haverford's most convincing win of doubles came when the No. 3 pairing of Ishaan Prinz and Pranav Krishnan picked up its first victory together by an 8-2 score. Prinz now has a team-leading seven victories in doubles while Krishnan recorded the first doubles victory of his collegiate career.

The No. 2 pairing of Dais Nakayama and Kevin Yan improved to 5-2 together in the middle doubles match. That duo doubled up the Shoremen opposition by an 8- 4 score. The No. 1 duo of Josh Moskovitz and David Kong was victorious by an 8-3 score. That pairing is 4-3 overall this spring in the top doubles position.

Kevin Yan put the Fords on the brink of victory as he allowed just one game to his opponent during a very quick victory at No. 2 singles. Yan conceded just one game in the opening set and completely shut down his opponent in the second for his fifth singles win of the year. He is now 2-0 in CC matches this spring. Ishaan Prinz clinched the team decision as he tallied his sixth win of the year at No. 3. Prinz won by a 6-2, 6-4 score.

Josh Moskovitz kept the straight set wins coming with a 6-1, 6-4 victory in the top singles match. Today's win marked his fourth at No. 1 singles this spring. David Kong closed the first wave of singles matches to hit the courts with a 6-2, 6-3 win at the No. 4 match. Kong is now 2-0 in conference singles matches and holds a 12-1 record dating back to the fall.

Dais Nakayama turned in a very impressive showing at No. 5 singles. He allowed just one game, which came in the second set, during his victory. The win is his third in singles this season and the 25th of his Haverford career. Pranav Krishnan closed the evening with a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 6 singles. Krishnan also has three wins on the year with his first conference victory tonight during his Centennial debut.

Men's tennis will head out on the road this Saturday for another battle of Centennial Conference unbeaten teams when the Fords match-up with Franklin & Marshall. That match will get underway at 12 p.m. in Lancaster.
