HAVERFORD, Pa. – Josh Moskovitz repeated his honor as Centennial Conference Player of the Week with the Fords' junior co-captain recording a perfect 4-0 record between No. 1 singles and doubles for the Haverford College men's tennis team. The honor is the third this season for Moskovitz who is ranked as the No. 16 player in the Atlantic South Region.
In singles, Moskovitz defeated a pair of regionally-ranked opponents, highlighted by his three-set win over Johns Hopkins' No. 12 player in the region Vishnu Joshi. He won that match by a 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 score. That victory came just four days after beating the No. 22 player in the region from Ursinus, Max Oberholtzer, in straight sets by a 6-1, 6-1 score.
Already a two-time All-Centennial Conference performer in singles, including first-team honors last spring, Moskovitz is currently 7-4 this spring at the top spot in the singles lineup. He is a perfect 4-0 against Centennial Conference opponents this year and has 29 career victories in singles to his credit.
During his doubles matches, Moskovitz teamed up with David Kong as Haverford's No. 1 pairing won two tiebreak matches against Ursinus and Johns Hopkins. Moskovitz is also 4-0 in Centennial Conference doubles matches this spring, playing alongside Kong each time. That pairing is 7-3 playing exclusively in the No. 1 position and has won four straight matches entering the final two weeks of the regular season. Moskovitz, the 2016 Centennial Conference Rookie of the Year, is also a two-time All-Centennial Conference performer in doubles.
Men's tennis is currently 9-5 overall this season with each of its defeats coming to nationally-ranked opponents. The Fords are 5-1 as a team in Centennial Conference matches with their only defeat coming to No. 20 Johns Hopkins over the weekend in which that 5-4 match setback saw a Haverford player disqualified while one point away from winning his singles match due to an inadvertent unsportsmanlike penalty call. The Fords have just one match this week as they close out their regular season home schedule with a 10 a.m. match against Dickinson on Saturday, April 21.
