Men's Tennis Roars Past Ursinus, 9-0

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College men's tennis team picked up its third straight Centennial Conference sweep, and fourth overall this season, with a 9-0 blanking of Ursinus on Tuesday afternoon. The Fords (10-5, 6-0 CC) now hold a combined 48-6 record between singles and doubles play in the conference this spring and are currently tied with Johns Hopkins for first place heading into this weekend's showdown in Baltimore.

Haverford's No. 1 doubles team of Josh Moskovitz and Kevin Yan remained undefeated in conference play with an 8-3 win at the top of the lineup. That Moskovitz/Yan pairing has now won six straight matches in addition to its 5-0 record in conference play. The No. 2 team of Pranav Krishnan and George Jiang won by that same score to improve to a team-best 12-6 in doubles matches. The Krishnan/Jiang pairing has won four straight and holds a 3-1 mark in conference action.

The Fords' No. 3 doubles team, Nick Sweeney and Arnav Patodia, had the most convincing victory of the doubles play as it won by an 8-1 score. Sweeney and Patodia are now 3-2 in Centennial doubles action and have won nine matches together overall. The Fords now hold a 15-3 record in conference doubles matches after today's results.

Haverford also boasts a 33-3 record in conference singles matches after another clean sweep. The Fords allowed just eight games in total during their six straight-set victories against Ursinus. Kevin Yan, Pranav Krishnan, and Arnav Patodia all remained undefeated in conference singles action with their victories. Yan is now 14-6 overall this year (6-0 CC) after conceding just one game at No. 2 singles. Krishnan is 5-0 in conference singles following his 10th victory this spring, a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 4. Patodia did not allow his opponent a single game at No. 6 singles as he has now won six straight singles matches and has 10 victories overall.

Josh Moskovitz won his fifth straight singles match with back-to-back 6-1 set wins. Playing No. 1, the senior holds a record of 15-6 this season, sporting a 4-1 Centennial mark. Fellow senior Nick Sweeney is also 4-1 in conference singles. He matched Moskovitz's 6-1, 6-1 score for his 10th win at No. 5 in the lineup. At No. 3 singles, George Jiang did not drop a single game on his way to the 14th victory of his rookie campaign. The first-year has also won five straight matches and is 4-1 in conference.

Men's tennis returns to action this Saturday at Johns Hopkins, playing the nationally-ranked Blue Jays in an 11 a.m. match. Those two teams are the only remaining unbeaten squads in Centennial Conference play. Haverford will also travel to Stevenson this coming Saturday for a 3 p.m. non-conference tilt after its Centennial Conference clash.
