Ainsley & others post top performances at Holiday Meet

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Saturday afternoon's Holiday Meet at Haverford College produced several strong performances for the Fords' indoor men's track & field team, led by Jeffrey Ainsley's school record in the 60-meter hurdles.

Ainsley's time of 8.58 seconds Saturday at The Gary Lutnick Tennis & Track Center in Alumni Field House broke by 0.02 seconds his own mark set last winter.

In addition to Ainsley's performances in the sprints, teammates Jonathan Yellets and Dorvil Gabriel raced to a 1-2 finish in the 400-meter run. Yellets posted a winning time of 53.24 seconds while Gabriel's runner-up time of 53.82 was a career best.

In the middle distance events, Haverford picked up first places in both the 800 and the mile.

Senior Gebby Keny captured the 800 with a time of 1 minute, 58.53 seconds, and in the mile freshmen teammates Cormac Rada and Michael Brier finished in the top two spots. Rada won the event with a time of 4:30.61, nipping Brier by 1.05 seconds.

Junior David Roza was the top Division III finisher in the 5,000 with a third-place time of 15:08.63, shattering his previous indoor best by 15 seconds.

The Fords picked up another first place in the pole vault from Michael Iannacone. The senior cleared a height of 3.80 meters, equaling his season best performance.

The Holiday Meet closes out the early portion of Haverford's indoor schedule as the team heads into the winter break. The Fords next take to the track on Jan. 18, 2014, with a trip to New York City for the NYU Invitational. The following weekend brings the team home to the Field House for the Haverford Invitational.
