Nation's top time earns Fords' DMR the league's performance of week

LANCASTER, Pa. – The Centennial Conference on Monday afternoon honored Haverford College's distance medley relay quartet with the league's track athletes of the week award after the foursome raced to the nation's fastest time at the Tufts Cupid Challenge over the weekend.

Charlie Marquardt, Jonathan Yellets, Gebby Keny and Christopher Stadler posted a winning time of 9 minutes, 58.01 seconds in the DMR Saturday morning at the Gantcher Center at Tufts University.

The NCAA utilizes a track indexing system for national meet qualifying, converting times, such as those performed on the Gantcher Center's flat track, to a banked track equivalent. The flat to banked conversion in this case results in a time of 9:50.00 for Haverford which is the nation's -- and obviously the Centennial's -- fastest clocking in Division III this winter.

Steve Avino of Gettysburg College was named the Centennial's field athlete of the week.
