USTFCCCA Rankings

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The first regular season U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association (USTFCCCA) computer rankings came out and the Haverford College men's indoor track and field team comes in 10th. The Fords were ranked ninth last week.

Since the preseason rankings came out, Haverford has participated in two events, the NY Gotham Cup (Jan. 16) and Princeton Invitational (Jan. 24). At the Gotham Cup, in a 76 person field that had many Division I runners, junior Charlie Marquardt ran the best mile time with a 4:12.4. That mark was the fourth fastest time in Division III. This run would lead to the junior being named the Centennial Conference Track Athlete of the Week (Jan. 19).

During the Princeton Invitational, senior David Roza (8:39.27) had the best time for Haverford in the 3,000m. The senior's time would ranks 13th in all of Division III. Senior Joel Christian set a personal best (8:45.65), beating his previous mark by almost three seconds, also posting the 28th best time in Division III. Junior Nicholas Gandolfo-Lucia recorded his career best in the event by nine seconds with an 8:51.57. Sophomore Charlie Hale (9:01.03) and sophomore Evan Hamilton (9:09.35) also reached personal milestones in the 3,000m. Roza was named Centennial Conference Track Athlete of the Week (Jan. 26).

Junior Jeffrey Ainsley also received the Centennial Conference Track Athlete of the Week earlier this year (Dec. 8) after setting the Villanova Pyrah Invitational 60m record (8.50) by eight-tenths of a second.

Haverford gets back on the track this Saturday at the Tufts Invitational. Fans can check out the Fords at the Alumni Field House as the team hosts the McElligott Invitational (Feb. 6-7), Keogh Invitational (Feb. 21) and Centennial Conference Championships (Feb. 28-Mar. 1).
