Centennial Conference Release

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Centennial Conference released the 2015 all-conference men's indoor track and field teams on Thursday and Haverford College had 11 athletes on the list.

Junior Charlie Marquardt was named Outstanding Track Performer after winning the 800m, mile and 4x800 relay events. Freshman Henry Woods was named Outstanding Rookie of the Year after making the 4x800 relay event first team and All-CC second team in the mile.

Marquardt marks the third consecutive year that Haverford has had the conference's outstanding track performer as Christopher Stadler '14 picked up the award the last two seasons.

Athletes who won events at the Centennial Conference Indoor Track Championships were named to the All-Centennial Conference first team while second place finishers were named to the second team. Third place finishers were All-CC honorable mention.

Junior Jeffrey Ainsley was one of only four athletes to win multiple events at the Centennial Conference Indoor Track Championships. Ainsley set a conference and school record in the 60m hurdles and was part of the 4x200 relay team that picked up gold for Haverford.

The 4x200 relay of Ainsley, junior Jonathan Yellets, senior Sam Callon and sophomore Alex Frost took home the title for the Fords with a time of 1:32.18. The group became the sixth Haverford 4x200 relay team to win the event, the last being in 2013. Haverford's 4x800 team won its second consecutive conference title. The team of Woods, Marquardt, sophomores Julian Schneider and Michael Brier (7:59.78) were ahead of the field by over two seconds.

Senior Gibby Graves also broke a school record and set a personal best (2.03m) in the high jump. It's Graves' fourth conference title, but first on the indoor track. He also placed second in the triple jump and third in the long jump.

The 3000m conference winner, senior David Roza, scored his first All-Centennial Conference first team accolade on the track and was second in the 5000m. Senior Joel Christian nabbed an All-CC honorable mention in the 5000m as well.

Brier snagged a conference honorable mention honor in the mile, as did Yellets in the 200m and 400m events for Haverford. Senior Alex Smith was also named to the All-Sportsmanship team.

Johns Hopkins' Michael Spadaro was named the Centennial Conference Field Performer while Greg Olenginski of Franklin and Marshall was the Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Franklin and Marshall's Carl Schnabel was conference Coach of the Year.

Head coach Tom Donnelly's squad has 137 gold medals in the history of the Centennial Conference, 93 more than the second highest team. The Fords will look to head to the NCAA Division III 2015 Indoor Championship on Mar. 13-14, hosted by Roanoke College in Winston-Salem, N.C.
