LANCASTER, Pa. – The Haverford College men's indoor track team participated in its first meet of 2017, picking up individual titles in the 400 meters, the mile and the 3000 meter distances at Franklin & Marshall's Coach I Invitational on Saturday afternoon. Liam Lynch, Henry Woods and Graham Peet all took home the event titles with impressive performances in their respective disciplines.

In the 400m, Lynch posted a time of 52.51 to take home first place. Scott Pollara also competed in the event for Haverford, finishing in 16th place with a time of 55.17.

The men's mile featured a bevy of Haverford middle distance and distance runners with Henry Woods taking home the event crown with a time of 4:21.04. Greg Morgan finished in second with a time of 4:21.11, a new college best in the distance. Julian Schneider crossed in 10th place in a time of 4:30.7. Ian Woodhouse finished 33rd with a time of 4:48.18, a new collegiate best.

The Fords had another one-two finish in the 3000m, with Graham Peet taking home the event crown with a time of 8:53.33, a new collegiate best in the discipline.  Jimmy Gorman was second in 8:54.35 while Charlie Hale finished fourth in a new collegiate best 8:55.56. Ryan Herlihy was fifth in a collegiate best 9:00.86 and James Stadler sixth in a collegiate best 9:01.80. Lincoln Satterhwaite finished 10th in 9:12.13, Marcelo Jauregui-Volpe was 13th, crossing in 9:16.18 and Evan Hamilton was 15th in 9:25.69. Steven Gan made his debut in the distance, crossing in 25th with a time of 10:15.74 to round out a sizable contingent of Haverford athletes.

Alex Frost finished 12th in the 60m preliminaries (7.53) and Lynch was 14th in 7.54 seconds. Frost was second in the 200m (24.21) and Peter Kurtz finished fourth in the 800m (2:03.29).

In field events, Greg Van Aken finished sixth in the pole vault with a mark of 3.8 meters. George Avecillas posted a mark of 4.92 meters in the long jump, good for 17th place. Avecillas posted a collegiate best in the shot put with a 10.38 meter mark in 18th place. Josiah Legaspi finished fourth in the weight throw (13.15m) and ninth in the shot put (11.62m).

Men's Indoor track and field will return to action next Saturday, January 21 as the Fords head to the campus of Ursinus for the Collegeville Invitational. The event will be the first of three at Ursinus this season for Haverford, culminating with the Centennial Conference Championships on Feburary 25-26.
