HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College men's indoor track and field team heads to the Centennial Conference championships this weekend looking for an 18th Centennial Conference championship in 24 tries. The Fords have finished first or second at the conference meet each season dating back to 1999. The meet will be hosted by Ursinus College in Collegeville, Pa. on Saturday and Sunday.

Last season, the Fords finished in second place for the fourth straight year, garnering 184 points, finishing just behind the 195 points of Johns Hopkins but well clear of third place finisher Ursinus, who finished with 66. Haverford finished with seven event titles over the two days.

This year, the Distance medley relay (DMR) squad will look to continue a strong tradition that has seen seven All-America performances including a national championship in 2002 and a second place finish in 2014. Haverford has won the DMR at the Centennial Conference Championships 15 times.

Sophomore Liam Lynch took home the event title in the 400 meter dash after qualifying as the third seed a season ago. This season, he is also the third seed and will be looking to reprise the conference championship in the distance.

In the 800m, Peter Kurtz and Chris Goings were are seeded sixth and tenth, respectively, and will look to continue the success in the distance with an eye towards national qualifying marks.

Henry Woods (4:16.80) and Greg Morgan (4:16.86) are seeded second and third in the mile while Dylan Gearinger (8:33.54) is the top seed in the 3000m run. All three are expected to push towards NCAA qualifying times with Graham Peet, Jimmy Gorman and Charlie Hale having similar goals as top ten seeds in the distance.

In the 5000m, which will be contested Saturday afternoon, Gorman and Peet are seeded second and third, respectively, while Hale is sixth and Ryan Herlihy is seeded 10th.

Haverford's relay teams will also figure to compete for conference crowns as the 4x200 meter relay is seeded second after taking the crown in the distance in with a time of 1:32.43 a season ago. Lynch and Alex Frost return for Haverford in the event.

The 4x400 meter relay squad will also be looking for a repeat crown while the 4x800m will try to improve on a second place finish a season ago.

In field events, Greg Van Aken is seeded ninth in the pole vault while Zach Oji is the seventh seed in the triple jump.

The action gets underway at 11:00 am on Saturday and continues well into Sunday afternoon. A live video stream and live timing will be avaliable via Ursinus.
