HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College men's indoor track & field schedule began in earnest on Saturday afternoon at the Gary Lutnick Track and Tennis Center inside the Alumni Field House as the Fords welcomed Dickinson, Eastern, Widener and Swarthmore to campus. Liam Lynch captured the 800 meter race to highlight the day for Haverford.
Lynch won the 800 meters in a time of 1:57.27. He was followed by Chris Goings (2:00.29), Hiro Kawakatsu (2:02.63), Sam Ditkovsky (2:08.42) and William Hillegas (2:15.07) in a Haverford-heavy field.
Lincoln Satterthwaite finished second in the mile, crossing in a personal best time of 4:28.45. Matt Katz followed in his collegiate track debut in a time of 4:31.68. James Stadler (4:34.19), Matthew Willig (4:35.54), James Barker (4:37.83), Tyler Fong (4:39.45), Conor Madden (4:41.63), Jack Hunter (4:44.24) and David Watt (4:46.59) rounded out the top 10 times.
First year Gene Perry was the top finisher for Haverford in the 400m, making his collegiate track debut with a time of 52.39. Scott Pollara was fifth in a time of 54.82 as the pair took the first two spots in their heat. In other action, Oscar Huang was the top Haverford finisher in the 60 meter dash with a 10th place finish in 7.76. In the 200 meter run, Rudy Hernandez finished in 12th with a time of 25:28.
In the high jump, Silvan Sooksatan and Keiran Marrett-Hitch made their collegiate debuts, each attaining a height of 1.80 meters. Cameron Albrecht followed close behind with a jump of 1.75 meters. Sooksatan and Albrecht finished seventh and 10th in the long jump, posting distances of 5.86 meters and 4.79 meters, respectively. Rohan Shukla (5.53 meters) finished 9th.
Greg Van Aken was eighth in the pole vault with a height of 3.20 meters. Alex Rittler finished in fifth in the shot put with a distance of 12.98 meters while Antwain Golson was 12th with a distance of 8.96 meters.
The Fords return to action after the holiday break, with the schedule resuming on January 13. Most of the squad heads to the Franklin & Marshall Coach I Invitational in Lancaster, Pa. while select competitors will take to the track at the Albany Great Dane Classic in Staten Island, N.Y.
