NEW YORK – The Haverford College Men's Indoor Track and Field team competed at the NYU Invitational on Friday at the Armory in the Washington Heights neighborhood of Manhattan, with junior Dylan Gearinger capturing an event title for the third consecutive week. Gearinger claimed the mile run to highlight a day that included a multitude of top 10 finishes for the Fords.
Gearinger crossed in a time of 4:11.65 for the 10th fastest indoor mile mark in Haverford history, eclipsing a pace set by Eric Arnold '12 at the Boston University Terrier Invitational by one one-hundreth of a second. Gearinger has now entered the program's indoor top 10 list in the 3,000 meter race, 5,000 meter race and mile run in less than three weeks' time.
Gearinger's mile would rank as the 12th fastest in Division III this season at press time, without accounting for any possible adjustment made for track size.
Graham Peet also finished in the event's top 10, crossing in a career-best time of 4:19.41. Chris Goings narrowly missed the top 10 with a time of 4:19.91, also a career best.
Greg Morgan competed in the 800 meter, finishing fifth with a time of 1:56.59, a new career best. Liam Lynch finished third in the 400 meter with a career-best time of 49.58. The mark narrowly eclipsed his previous best of 49.61 at the 2016 Villanova Invitational.
Gene Perry also finished in the top 10 with a career-best mark of 50.67, entering the top 10 in program history in the distance with the mark. Zach Oji was 40th with a time of 56.45. Haverford's 4x400 meter relay team finished 10th in a time of 3:29.22.
Lynch competed in the 200 meter, finishing in 17th with a time of 23.17. Scott Pollara crossed in 54th with a time of 24.24 while Huang was 63rd in a time of 24.85.
In the 60m, Oscar Huang finished 43rd in a time of 7.66 while Gabe Pascal was 54th in a time of 7.98. Oji was 15th in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 10.23.
In field events, Silvan Sooksatan was 11th in the high jump with a height of 1.78 meters. Sooksatan competed in the long jump, finishing in 21st (5.56m). Rohan Shukla was 24th (5.54m).
Shukla finished 21st in the triple jump (11.71m) while Oji was 22nd (11.60m).
Haverford next returns home on Saturday, February 17 to host the Keogh Invitational, with events beginning at 11:30 a.m inside the Alumni Field House on the Haverford campus. The meet is the final tune-up for the Fords before the Centennial Conference Championships head to Ursinus on February 24-25.
