Men's Track & Field Tabbed 13th in Penultimate USTFCCCA Indoor Rankings

HAVERFORD, Pa. –  The Haverford College men's indoor track and field team checks in with the No. 13 national anking in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division III Indoor Track and Field computer rankings. The sixth rankings release is the penultimate release before the NCAA Indoor Championships next weekend. The pre-nationals rankings will be released on Monday, March 5.

Haverford collected a total of 56.75 points in the latest rankings. The Fords peaked at No. 11 in the third weekly release on February 6 and have been ranked in the Top 25 for the past five weeks of competition.

Last week, Haverford captured seven event titles en route to a second place finish in the Centennial Conference Championships with 177 points, well clear of third place Swarthmore who finished third with 85 total points.  Johns Hopkins took the Centennial Championship with 215 total points. Haverford has finished first or second in the Centennial Championships in each season dating back to 1999.

Haverford picked up seven event titles at the Conference Championships including Dylan Gearinger capturing the 3,000 meters and 5,000 meters, Greg Morgan taking home gold in the mile run, Chris Goings winning the 800 meter run and Liam Lynch taking a third-straight gold in the 400 meter dash. The men's 4x400 meter relay and distance medley relay squads also topped the podium.

The Fords returned to the top of the Centennial podium in the DMR after a second place finish a season ago. Henry Woods, Lynch, Goings, and Morgan finished with a time of 10:04.2, picking up 10 points. The DMR was the eighth- fastest in Haverford program history.

With the top 15 declared entrants selected for the national championships, Morgan (mile run, 3,000 meters), Gearinger (3,000 meters and 5,000 meters) and Graham Peet (5,000 meters) all have put themselves in position for qualification with times within the top 15 nationally this season. Additionally, the Haverford DMR posted the seventh- fastest performance this season on Saturday afternoon.

The focus will now shift towards the afformentioned NCAA Division III Championships, which will be held on March 9 and 10 in Birmingham, Ala. at the CrossPlex. Birmingham Southern College will serve as the host of the two-day event.
