Gearinger Named CC Outstanding Track Performer, Tom Donnelly Tabbed Coach of the Year

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Haveford junior Dylan Gearinger was named the Centennial Conference Outstanding Track Performer while Head Coach Tom Donnelly was named the Centennial Conference Indoor Track & Field Coach of the Year, the Centennial Conference office announced on Tuesday afternoon.

Gearinger captured the 3,000 meters and the 5,000 meters at the Centennial Conference meet, completing the distance back-to-back with a pair of gold medals to his name. The junior from Berwick, Pa. has been a standout for Haverford all season, qualifying for the NCAA Division III Championships in both the 3,000-meter and 5,000 meter distances.

Gearinger's 8:15.96 seed time is the eighth-fastest 3,000 meters this season. His 5,000 meter seed time of 14:20.35 is the seventh-fastest mark. Gearinger also ran the 26th fastest mile this season in a time of  4:11.65 at the NYU Invitational in February.

Gearinger has also entered the top-10 in program history in the mile, 3,000 meters and 5,000 meters this indoor season, completing the feat in just three weeks of competition. For his efforts in rewriting the Haverford top 10 marks list, Gearinger was named the Centennial Conference Indoor Track Athlete of the Week in three straight weeks.

Haverford last had the Outstanding Track Performer during the 2016 season as Charlie Marquardt capped a run of four straight honorees from Haverford with his second honor in as many seasons. Chris Stadler also picked up the honor in 2013 and 2014.

Donnelly was named the Centennial Conference Coach of the Year in the indoor season for the seventh time. The men's indoor squad peaked at No. 11 in the USTFCCCA National Indoor Rankings and finished second at the Centennial Indoor Championships with seven total event titles.

Gearinger (3,000 and 5,000 meters), Graham Peet (5,000 meters) and Greg Morgan (mile) will all compete for Haverford on Friday and Saturday at the NCAA Division III Championships in Birmingham, Ala. Live timing and results for the national meet are avaliable via HaverfordAthletics.com
