Full USTFCCCA National Ratings Index Release
HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford College Men's Indoor Track & Field team has held onto its sixth position in the third weekly release of the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches (USTFCCCA) National Ratings Index, the organization announced in a release on Wednesday afternoon. This is the third straight week Haverford has been in the sixth position in the ratings index after taking the No. 10 ranking in the preseason prognostication.
Haverford registered 80.89 points in this week's ratings. There has been a bit of a shakeup among the top five teams, despite North Central (Ill.) retaining its number one position and Wisconsin-Oshkosh staying put at number two nationally. Mount Union jumps from fourth to third while Wisconsin-La Crosse moves from fifth to fourth. Wisconsin-Whitewater falls two spots to the number five national ranking. Haverford is followed in the rankings by MIT, Wisconsin-Platteville, Wisconsin-Stevens Point, and Dubuque. Wisconsin-Platteville made a major jump, climbing from No. 16 to number eight.
The Fords are again the top ranked squad in the rankings out of the Mideast, and No. 25 Wesley is the only other squad in the Mideast to be ranked within the Top 25. Conference foe Johns Hopkins checks in at No. 40.
The Fords own the top marks in both the 3,000 meters (8:14.56) and mile (4:07.21) so far this season, with senior Greg Morgan holding both of those top overall times in Division III. First year Jamie Moreland (35th-fastest 800 meters) and Senior Graham Peet (34th-fastest 3,000 meters) also contributed to Haverford's score with their performances from last weekend at the Villanova Invitational.
Haverford will next return to action Saturday, February 9 at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational in Boston. The meet is hosted by Boston University, and is one of the most prominent indoor meets on the national schedule this season. Events will begin at 10:30 a.m.
