NEW YORK, N.Y. - The 15th-ranked Haverford College men's track & field team competed in the NYC Division III Invitational on Friday at the New Balance Track & Field Center at the Armory. In another impressive showing at the NYU-hosted meet, the Fords posted eight top 10 finishes on the evening, with that performance bolstered by Jamie Moreland's event title and meet record in the 800 meters.

The 800 meter field was easily paced by Moreland as the Los Angeles product crossed in 1:52.99, a new meet record and just shy of his personal best of 1:52.93, set on the same track last month. In addition to Moreland, Reza Eshghi was the eighth to cross overall in a personal-best 1:57.28. Reed Solomon (2:02.38) finished 26th while Flyn Meadows was the 34th place finisher (2:04.51) to round out the Haverford entrants.

Haverford's mile contingent was led by Nico Tripeny, as the senior finished second overall with a personal-best 4:19.63. Haverford's milers showed why they are the top mile squad in the nation, with the reign also including strong finishes from Matthew Denton, who notched a sixth-place showing in a personal-best 4:22.90. Micah Lachman impressed with an eighth-place finish (4:25.41) in just his rookie season, while Sammy Schindel logged a personal record with a 20th-place showing in 4:31.64.

As with the mile, a trio of Haverford finishers logged top 10 showings in the 3,000 meters. Peter LaRochelle crossed in 8:32.16 while classmate Miles Colescott turned in a PR with a time of 8:40.98 for seventh place. Senior stalwart Aaron Bratt also turned in a top 10 showing, hitting a personal best of 8:42.75. Michael Franco was close behind in 13th (8:52.18).

Ravi Eaton was Haverford's lone entrant in the 400, as he narrowly missed placement in the top 10, taking 11th with a time of 51.95. The 200-meter contingent was paced by a personal-best finish from Vir Goyal (51st, 24:83) in a photo finish over Kinnan Abdalhamid (53rd, 24.84). Jonathan Hill was 58th in 25.29.  Amon-Ra Kamit was one of three finishers in the 60-meter dash, pacing that squad with a season-best 7.81 (23rd). David Cole crossed 26th (7.94) while Boahen Kwakye was 36th (9.77).

Cyrus Slavin was the top Haverford finisher in the shot put, clearing a distance of 9.79 meters (32 feet, 1.5 inches) for 23rd, followed closely by teammate Rasaaq Shittu (8.88 meters or 29 feet, 1.75 inches) in 27th. Slavin logged a throw of 10.77 meters (35 feet, four inches) in the weight throw invitational for 16th while Shittu cleared 8.61 meters (28 feet, three inches) in the main draw, good for 12th overall.

A contingent of Haverford athletes will now return to action tomorrow at the Frank Colden Invitational at Ursinus. Action is slated to begin at 10 a.m. as the Fords make the trek to Collegeville for the third time this season.
