ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Haverford College's men's outdoor track & field team traveled to two separate meets on the weekend with the majority of the squad heading to Allentown for Saturday's Muhlenberg Invitational after a handful of runners participated in the Sam Howell Memorial Invitational on Friday evening at Princeton University.
David Roza and Daniel Stackman, participating in their first 3,000-meter steeplechase event in college, raced to the top two spots Saturday at Muhhlenberg. Roza captured the event title with a clocking of 9 minutes, 46.40 seconds while Stackman was close behind, finishing second in a time of 9:51.24.
Another first-place result for the Fords came in the 1,500m where Ivo Milic-Strkalj won the event in a time of 4:04.42. Teammates Sam Fujumori (4:07.96) and Jack McNeilly cracked the top 10 with McNeilly posting a career-best time of 4:08.94.
Gebby Keny just missed a career-best time in the 800, finishing second in a time, 1:58.20, that was less than a second off his best. Keny also participated on the Fords' fourth-place 4x400 relay with teammates James Torain, Sam Callon and Jonathan Yellets.
Friday at Princeton (results), several Fords went up against Princeton and other Division I runners and Haverford's performers held their own.
Avi Bregman (pictured) narrowly missed setting a new career-best mark in the 3,000m steeplechase, finishing sixth in a time of 9:08.39, only eight-100ths of a second off his best time.
Jordan Schilit led three Fords in the 1,500m with an eighth-place finish (3:54.92) while Charlie Marquardt was 20th and Michael Riccio was 27th.
Christopher Stadler, running in his first outdoor 10,000m in college, posted a seventh-place time of 30:00.95 to lead 10th-place Peter Kissin and 24th-place Brian Sokas across the line as the three Fords raced into the top-25 of the event results.
The team will travel to Ewing, N.J., on Saturday, April 13 for its next meet, the TCNJ Invitational hosted by The College of New Jersey.
