Keny posts career-best 800m at Haverford Tri-Meet

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Junior Gebby Keny of Haverford College's men's outdoor track & field team was one of a a handful of Fords who were able to post career-best performances under, surprising, rainy skies Tuesday in the Haverford Tri-Meet at Johnson Track.

Gebby was the first collegian across the finish in the 800-meter run, clocking a new career mark with a time of 1 minute, 55.69 seconds. Teammate Charlie Marquardt was close behind setting his own career best with a 1:56.46 finish.

The Fords swept the top three spots in the 200 as Sam Callon's time of 22.74 seconds led the trio across the finish. Callon's winning time was his second-fastest 200 for his career. Jonathan Yellets was second (22.91) and James Torain (23.10) third as both set new career standards.

Junior Gabe Olsen was the fastest Haverford runner in the 1,500 with a fifth-place time, 4:09.99, that shattered his previous collegiate best by five seconds.

Off the track, sophomore Gibby Graves won the triple jump with a leap, 13.27 meters, that set a new personal standard as did Jeffrey Ainsley's winning toss of 28.74 meters in the discus.

Next up for the Haverford team is the Centennial Conference championship meet hosted by Ursinus College in Collegeville, Pa., on Friday through Sunday, May 3-5.
