Outdoor season opens at Widener

CHESTER, Pa. – The 2014 outdoor track & field season kicked off Friday night for Haverford College with several Fords posting positive results on Day 1 of the Danny Curran Invitational at Widener University.

Gibby Graves captured the triple jump with a best leap of 13.09 meters (42 feet, 11. 5inches) on the second of his six attempts.

On the oval, Avi Bregman, David Roza and Joel Christian recorded top-10 places in the 5,000-meter run.

Bregman was the top collegian in the event with a second-place time of 14 minutes, 50.07 seconds which is the senior's best outdoor time in the 5K. Roza, in third, also recorded his outdoor best with a time of 14:53.58. Christian, in sixth, posted a collegiate-best time of 15:04.55.

In the pole vault senior Michael Iannacone finished in a tie for 13th clearing a height of 3.75m (12-3.5).

The Invitational continues Saturday with the second of the two-day meet.
