Fords commence competition at Colonial Relays

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - Senior Christopher Stadler won the 10,000-meter run and led the Haverford College men's outdoor track and field team on the first day of competition at the 49th Colonial Relays on Friday.

Stadler finished the distance run in a time of 30 minutes, 6.33 seconds, which was more than 17 seconds faster than his closest competitor. The Belmont, Mass. native picked up 10 points for the Fords and vaulted Haverford into 18th place in the team standings after day one. Teammate Brian Sokas finished 14th in the same event with a result of 31:53.20.

Haverford's David Roza ran well in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and took home a top-15 result. The junior's time of 9:25.55 was good for a 13th-place time.

In the 5,000-meter run the Fords had a trio of athletes finish in the top 50. Charlie Marquardt had the team's best result, crossing the finish line in 14:59.91 and in 32nd overall. Jimmy Gorman (15:13.07) and Sam Fujimori (15:28.96) completed the run in 45th and 50th, respectively.

Jeff Ainsley led a group of Fords in the 200-meter dash on Friday. Ainsley finished the sprint in 23.19 seconds, just ahead of Alex Frost (23.72) and Dorvil Gabriel (24.23).

Gebby Keny had Haverford's best time in the 1,500-meter run, finishing in 4:03.33.

The Fords will continue competing at the Colonial Relays on Saturday.
