Men's track shines at West Chester Invitational

WEST CHESTER, Pa. - The Haverford College men's track and field team competed at the West Chester (University) Invitational on Saturday afternoon and several Fords posted top times.

In the sprinting events, Haverford was led by Jonathan Yellets. The sophomore placed in the top three in both the 100-meter and 200-meter dash. Yellets raced to a third-place result in each event with a time of 11.52 seconds in the 100 and 23.16 in the 200.

Soren Rasmussen ran to a third-place result in the 800-meter run as the senior crossed the finish line in 1 minute, 58.77 seconds, just over three seconds off the fastest time. Rasmussen's result in the event was his best time this season and the eighth quickest in the conference.

The 400-meter race saw Gebby Keny sprint to the fifth-fastest Centennial time this year, as the runner crossed the finish line at the 50.70 mark and in ninth place.

Gibby Graves was a standout in the jumping events, as the leaper placed second in the high jump, long jump, and triple jump. Graves' distance of 6.12 meters (20 feet, one inch) in the long jump was his best this season and the eighth best in the league.

The men's track and field team will continue its outdoor season at the Widener (University) Invitational next weekend. A few of the athletes on the team will also travel to the Sam Howell Distance meet at Princeton University on Friday, April 18.
