Fords host dual meet with Widener

HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford College men's track and field team hosted the 2014 Haverford/Widener Dual Meet on Tuesday afternoon at Johnson Track.

The Fords' best event was the 1,500-meter run as Haverford runners captured the 12 top times. Christopher Stadler won the event in a time of 3 minutes, 54.89 seconds and just ahead of David Roza and Brian Sokas who placed second and third, respectively. 

In the 800-meter run senior Gebby Keny ran a personal-best time of 1:54.11 and crossed the finish line second overall.

First-year Ford Alex Frost competed in the 400-meter hurdles and ran his best time of the season when he finished with a second-place result of 1:00.73.

On the field side of the meet, Michael Iannacone tied a personal record in the pole vault. The Havertown, Pa. native crossed the bar at 3.95 meters (12 feet, 11.5 inches) and took home the top performance in the event.

Robert Parry competed in both the shot put and discus and recorded his best distance of the season in the shot put. The thrower came in second place when he launched the weight 11.60 meters (38-0.5). Parry's distance of 32.50 meters (106-8) in the discus was good for second.

In the 400-meter run Jonathan Yellets captured the fastest time when he ended the race in a time of 50.86. Teammate Sam Callon finished in second with his best time of the 2014 outdoor season, 52.30.

The Fords have one final meet to prepare for the 2014 Centennial Conference Championships. This Saturday, April 26, Haverford will travel to The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) to perform at the TCNJ Invitational. The meet is set to begin at 10 a.m. The conference championships will be the following weekend, May 2-4, at Swarthmore College.
