Stadler repeats as 10K champion on day one of conference meet

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - Senior Christopher Stadler started the 2014 Centennial Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships right where he left off last year, in first place in the 10,000-meter run. Stadler won the event for the second straight season as the Haverford College men's track and field team began competition at the conference meet at host Swarthmore College on Friday night.

Stadler becomes the third Haverford runner to win two titles in the 10,000-meter run as the senior's time of 31 minutes and 35.24 seconds was more than four seconds faster than Dickinson College's Henry Mynatt who took second. Brian Sokas ran to a third-place result in the event when he crossed the finish line at 31:49.55. Joel Christian was also able to pick up points for the Fords as he finished in 32.09.62 and in the seventh position.

The pole vault final saw Haverford's Michael Iannacone set a new personal best as he cleared the bar at 4.40 meters (14 feet, 5.25 inches). The senior broke his previous record by almost six inches and vaulted his way into second place.

The Fords will continue competing at the conference championships on Saturday and Sunday at Swarthmore. For complete coverage of the 2014 Centennial Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships click here.
