Top 10 Tuesday: Stadler Wins Second NCAA Title

HAVERFORD, Pa. – It's Top 10 Tuesday! We have reached the end of our list as this is the final Tuesday in the month of August. Throughout this series we have been taking a look back at the Top 10 moments from the 2013-14 academic year. This list was compiled as a way to highlight one of the most successful athletic campaigns in the history of Haverford Athletics, both on the playing field and in the classroom.

Although there were many memorable moments throughout the 2013-14 seasons, we only have 10 summer Tuesdays. For a full list of all the highlights from this past year, be sure to check out the complete list of varsity highlights here. The Tuesday Top 10 was revealed in chronological order.

What better way to complete the Top 10 list than with a national champion. With one national championship under his belt from the 2013 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships in the 5,000 meters, Christopher Stadler added the outdoor title in that event to his list of career accolades with a second national championship in the final race of his decorated collegiate career. With his second individual national championship, Stadler became the sixth individual in Haverford history to win multiple NCAA Championships.

In addition to his two national championships, Stadler graduated from Haverford College as the recipient of eight All-American certificates. Of Stadler's eight All-American honors, he earned five of those certificates during his senior season. In addition to his national championship run in the 5,000 meters this spring, Stadler also finished runner-up in 10,000 meters at the outdoor championships. During the indoor season, Stadler placed fifth in the 3,000 meters and anchored the second-place Distance Medley Relay. Stadler got his senior season started with a 19th-place performance at the NCAA Cross Country Championships.

At the conference level, Stadler won five Centennial Conference titles during this past year. He claimed the individual championship in cross country, while also winning the indoor 3,000 and 5,000; and outdoor 5,000 and 10,000 meter races.

Stadler received an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship following his indoor track & field season. A nine-time honoree on the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll, Stadler earned that distinction in each of his three running seasons during his sophomore, junior and senior campaigns. He was also named the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Overall Male Performer of the Year.
