Christian Finishes Second in 5,000m at Danny Curran Invite

CHESTER, Pa. – Senior Joel Christian finished second in the 5,000m event at the Danny Curran Invite hosted by Widener University on Friday afternoon.

Christian ran a 15:05.60 and placed second among 76 runners in the event. Freshman Henry Woods was seventh (15:08.85) while sophomore Jimmy Gorman was just outside the top ten in 12th (15:30.88). Junior Sam Fujimori was 14th (15:33.09), junior Dylan Verner-Crist (15:43.03) was 18th and senior Jeffrey Duncan was 19th (15:44.54).

Sophomore Evan Hamilton (25th) set a new personal record with a 15:57.02. Freshman Marcelo Jauregui-Volpe (15:57.02), James Stadler (16:02.42) and Matt Willig (16:19.34) participated in the 5,000m event for the first time.

Senior Zachary Gabor ran in the 10,000m for the first time in his career and had a 36:17.42.

Freshman Daniel Sax (12.40m) finished in seventh place in the triple jump, just in front of his teammate senior Gibby Graves (12.36m).

The Fords will participate in day two of the Danny Curran Invitational tomorrow.
