Marquardt Wins 5,000m at Princeton Invite

PRINCETON – Junior Charlie Marquardt won the 5,000m race at the Sam Howell Invitational hosted by Princeton University on Friday evening. Seniors Joel Christian (10,000m) and David Roza (3,000m steeplechase) finished in second place in their respective events.

Marquardt's win in the 5,000m (14:21.63) had a 56 person field littered with Division I runners. The junior shattered his previous best mark by over 38 seconds. At press time, Marquardt's 14:21.63 was the fastest time in Division III by six seconds and 30th quickest time among all levels in the NCAA. Haverford alum Eric Arnold '12 (14:22.31) finished right behind Marquardt in second place.

In the 10,000m, Christian broke his personal record with a 30:47.83 to place second in the race. The senior's time is the second best time in all of Division III.

Roza ran in the steeplechase for the first time in the outdoor season, finishing in second place (9:11.09) among the 24 runners in the event. Roza currently owns the second best time in Division III this season after Friday night.

Head coach Tom Donnelly's squad has a quick turnaround as it heads to Allentown, Pa. tomorrow to take part in the Muhlenberg Invitational beginning at 10 a.m.
