Men's Track & Field Begins CC Outdoor Championships

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The first day of the Centennial Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships came to a close with senior Joel Christian picking up a second place finish in the 10,000 meters.

Dickinson's Nick Stender won the event in a time of 31.46.63. Christian finished with a time of 31:49.07. Junior Dylan Verner-Crist set a new personal record (32.17.39) and finished sixth, while sophomore Jimmy Gorman came in the ninth position (32:33.63) in his first attempt in the event. Sophomores Evan Hamilton (32:44.20), Charlie Hale (33:53.16) and junior Jeffrey Duncan (34:17.92) also participated in the event for the first time in their careers.

After Friday's events, the Fords rank third with 11 points. Johns Hopkins leads with 39 points and Dickinson is second (19). Muhlenberg (six) and Gettysburg (five) also secured points.

Head coach Tom Donnelly's squad finished second at last year's outdoor conference meet after winning the conference titles in 2012 and 2013. The Fords have won the outdoor track and field championships 18 of the 21 seasons that the Centennial Conference has had the event.
