CANTON, N.Y. –  Junior Charlie Marquardt became the 15th Haverford runner to receive an All-America certificate in the 1,500m event at the NCAA Outdoor Track Championships hosted by St. Lawrence University as he crossed the finish line in second place (3:50.93) today.

The junior now has two individual All-America certificates and three overall in his career. He ran to a fifth place finish in the 3,000m at the 2015 NCAA Division III Indoor Track Championships. The reigning US Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association (USTFCCCA) Division III National Track Athlete of the Week also nabbed an All-America accolade as the opening leg in the Fords' runner-up distance medley relay at the 2013 NCAA Division III Indoor Track Championships. He is the 68th overall All-American in the history of the men's outdoor track and field team, the 160th All-American across all three seasons.

Marquardt joins a long list of All-Americans in the 1,500m. Kevin Foley '83 (1980-83), Liam O'Neill '86 (1986), Matt Leighninger '92 (1990-92), Aaron Curry '94 (1993-94), Karl Paranya '97 (1995-97), Aryn Davis '97 (1997), Ntobeko Ntusi (1998), Jason Bernstein '01 (1999, 2001), Bobby Cannon '08 (2005), Sam Dalke '07 (2006), Ivo Milic-Strkalj '13 (2010), Tim Schoch '12 (2011-12), Eric Arnold '12 (2011) and Jordan Schilit '13 (2003) have reached All-America status in the event. Foley is a three-time national champion, while also setting the national record (3:44.50) in 1982. Karl Paranya also nabbed individual titles in the national meet in 1996 and 1997.

Today's result wraps up a fabulous season for Marquardt. The USTFCCCA selected him as the Division III Mideast Region Track Athlete of the Year earlier this week. In the outdoor season, Marquardt became the fifth person and third Ford in conference meet history to win both the 800m and 1,500m races, leading to his Centennial Conference Outstanding Track Performer Award.

The runner was also named the Centennial Conference Outstanding Track Performer after winning the 800m, mile and 4x800 relay events at the indoor conference meet. During the cross country season, he won three individual titles including the Centennial Conference Championship and Mideast Regional. He was also named Centennial Conference Runner of the Week twice and the conference's runner of the year.
