Men's Track and Field Participates in First Day of Widener Invitational

CHESTER, Pa. -- The Haverford College men's track and field team started off on a good note in the Widener Invitational on Friday evening. Competing in two events, the Fords placed two runners in the top three in the 5,000 meters to highlight the day.

Senior Dylan Verner-Crist finished in second place, clocking in with a final time of 14:59.30. In third place, freshman Graham Peet crossed the finish line at 15:02.47. Haverford placed four total runners in the top ten with Jimmy Gorman (15:23.52) finishing in eighth place and Dylan Gearinger (15:25.27) finishing tenth. Not far behind, Charlie Hale finished 12th and Sam Fujimori placed 14th.

In the day's only field event, Josiah Legaspi competed in the discus, making his mark with a throw of 34.45 meters. 

Haverford will continue its weekend at the Widener Invitational on Saturday morning. Competition is scheduled to start up again at 10 a.m.
