PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -- The men's outdoor track and field team was represented by senior Charlie Marquardt on Saturday at Franklin Field in the Olympic Development Men's Mile Run. In the event, Marquardt finished third out of 11 runners with a time of 4:02.70. Both runners who finished in front of him were competing unaffilated with any school.

Marquardt was Haverford's only competitor on Saturday. Earlier in the week, senior Jeffrey Ainsley competed in the decathlon. Ainsley broke the school record in the decathlon by scoring 6,225 points. He placed third overall in a field of five athletes. His score is tied for ninth in all of Division III this season. Ainsley's strongest event came with a time of 15.05 seconds in the 110 meter hurdles to score 843 of those record-breaking points.

The Centennial Conference Championships begin Friday, May 6 and run through Sunday. Dickinson College is the host of this year's event.
