Gearinger Wins 10,000m to Highlight Day One of Centennial Championships

BALTIMORE – The Haverford College Men's Outdoor Track and Field team posted the top three finishers in the 10,000-meter race to highlight the first day of the Centennial Conference championships.  Sophomore Dylan Gearinger captured the event title with a mark of 31:53.23.  The men's squad is currently in second with three scored events so far after one day of competition.

Senior Jimmy Gorman finished second to Gearinger, crossing just after the sophomore with a mark of 31:54.76. Charlie Hale was third in 31:55.45 as seniors took the second and third spots. Ryan Herlihy finished fifth in 32:16.99 to round out the top five. Evan Hamilton was seventh in 32:57.48 to close out the scorers for the Fords.

In other action for the Fords, Greg Van Aken narrowly missed a personal best with a seventh place finish in the pole vault, clearing a distance of 3.90m.
 
The men's steeplechase will kick off the action for the Fords on Saturday at noon as the Johns Hopkins-hosted championships continue throughout the weekend.
