BALTIMORE - The Haverford College men's outdoor track & field team wrapped up action at the Centennial Conference outdoor championships on Sunday on the campus of Johns Hopkins. The Fords took second place overall for the fourth straight season with an overall total of 132.50 points over the three-day event. Henry Woods won the 5,000 meters to highlight the last day of competition for Haverford.
The 5,000m was dotted by Fords scorers, as Henry Woods picked up another event title in the 5,000m, taking home All-Centennial first team honors with a time of 5:22.53
Dylan Gearinger will take home second-team All-Centennial honors after also taking an event title in the 10,000 meter on Friday. Gearinger finished in 15:23.03. Graham Peet was fourth in 15:30.05, Charlie Hale was fifth in 15:31.64 and Jimmy Gorman was sixth in 15:36.81. Ryan Herlihy was seventh in 15:38.50 as the Fords picked up 32 points in a dominating performance from the 5,000m squad.
In the 1,500m, Greg Morgan finished in second with a time of 3:58.62, earning second-team All-Centennial honors in the process. Henry Woods finished fifth in 4:00.83 and Julian Schneider was eighth to round out the scorers with a mark of 4:04.62.
Haverford's 4x100 meter relay team of Greg Van Aken, Zach Oji, Liam Lynch and Alex Frost finished in fourth, scoring five points for Haverford with a time of 44.48.
The 4x400 meter relay team of Peter Kurtz, Frost, Chris Goings and Lynch crossed in fifth with a time of 3:26.55 to score four points for the Fords. Lynch also finished third in the 400m dash, picking up All-Centennial honorable mention honors in the distance with a time of 49.60.
Goings and Kurtz each scored for Haverford in the 800m run, with Goings crossing in fifth with a time of 1:56.90 and Kurtz finished in eighth with a time of 2:00.78. Lynch finished seventh in the 200m dash with a season-best 22.75 to score two points for Haverford. Oji was seventh in the 400m hurdles with a time of 59.84.
Johns Hopkins captured the Centennial Conference crown. The Fords have never finished below second place in the Centennial meet.
Haverford will now await a series of last chance meets in the lead-up to NCAA selections. The Fords will be in action on Monday, May 15 at the Swarthmore Last Chance Meet before heading to Widener later in the week for final qualifiers.
