CHESTER, Pa. – The Haverford Men's Outdoor Track and Field team competed at the Mideast Invitational at Widener University on Thursday in the final day of qualifying action before the NCAA Championships next weekend in Geneva, Ohio.

Haverford had runners compete in the 1,500 meter and the 800 meter distances. In the 1,500 meter, Julian Schneider finished in second with a time of 4.00.89 while Jimmy Gorman was third in a personal-best 4:02.49 as both seniors finished up their Haverford careers.

Schneider, an Ambler Scholar-Athlete, finishes with an indoor Centennial Conference championship in the 2015 DMR as well as a second-team All-Centennial Conference nod from the 2016 4x 800 indoor relay.

Gorman finishes his track career with a USTFCCA All-Mideast Region selection in the 5,000 meter, and a second-team All-Conference selection in the distance. At the Centennial Conference championships earlier this month, Gorman wrapped up his long distance career with a second place finish in the 10,000 meter as the Fords swept the podium in Baltimore.

In the 800 meter race, Greg Morgan finished 11th in a personal-best time of 1:55.02.

The NCAA takes the top 20 times from confirmed entrants. Henry Woods is currently ranked 20th in Division III in the 5,000 meter while Morgan is 21st in the 1,500 meter. The final declared entrants to the NCAA Championships will be announced on Saturday. The national championship meet will run from Thursday, May 25 through Saturday, May 27 in Geneva, Ohio at the SPIRE Institute.
