Stadler Takes Home Centennial Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award

HAVERFORD, Pa. - Haverford Men's Track & Field distance runner James Stadler has been selected as the Centennial Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

The Centennial Conference recognizes a Scholar-Athlete of the Year in each of its 24 championship sports to a junior or senior member of the All-Conference team with the highest cumulative grade point average.

The overall Scholar-Athletes of the Year are presented to the student with the highest GPA among the 12 men and 12 women's winners.

Stadler, a Mathematics major, picked up Honorable Mention All-Centennial designation after finishing third in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 9:33.55 at the 2017 CC Outdoor Track & Field Championship.The junior set new personal-best times in the 1500m, 5000m and 3,000m steeplechase this season and was named to his third straight Centennial Conference academic honor roll.

The Stadler name is no stranger to Haverford. James is the younger brother of Chris Stadler '14, who captured two NCAA titles and eight All-America certificates during his time at Haverford and was both a Scholar Athlete of the Year and a Centennial Conference Performer of the Year.

The Fords will now await the release of the 2017 Track & Field USTFCCCA All-Academic awards, expected to be released later this month.
