Morgan's 1,500 Meter Time Highlights Busy Friday for Men's Track & Field

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College men's outdoor track & field team split runners between the Larry Ellis Invitational at Princeton and the Widener Invitational on Friday evening. Greg Morgan finished the 1,500 meters at Princeton with a time of 3:52.99, good for 14th overall. The mark eclipses Morgan's Centennial Conference Athlete of the Week finish from a week ago. With results still rolling in from meets across the country, Morgan's time is currently the fourth best mark in Division III thus far in the 2018 campaign.

Dylan Gearinger crossed in 24th with a time of 3:55.52 in his initial foray into the outdoor 1,500 meter distance. Henry Woods finished 45th in 3:59.52.

Haverford also sent three runners to Princeton in the 5,000 meters with Graham Peet competing in the seeded race while Marcelo Jauregui-Volpe and Ryan Herlihy both competed in the unseeded race. Peet finished 23rd in the seeded race in a time of 14:50.21, a new career outdoor best.

In the unseeded competition, Jauregui-Volpe crossed the finish in 14:55.37, good for a seventh place overall finish. He was third amongst Division III entrants. The time was a personal best as the senior posted a 5,000 meter time under the 15-minute mark for the first time in his career. Herlihy was 16th overall in the event, finishing in a time in 15:20.63.

At Widener, James Stadler finished in ninth in the 5,000 meters with a time of 15:13.19. Matthew Willig was 15th in a career-best 15:18.45. Conor Madden crossed in 23rd overall with a personal-best time of 15:25.73 and Sam McCalpin was 25th in 15:27.45. David Watt finished 31st in 15:33.38 while Jack Hunter was 37th in a personal-best 15:38.16.

The two-day Widener Invitational will continue tomorrow morning. The first men's events are the 1,500 meters and the hammer, beginning at approximately 11 a.m.
