Morgan, Peet Advance to Finals at NCAA Championships

LA CROSSE, Wis. – On the first day of NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships action, Haverford juniors Greg Morgan and Graham Peet each qualified for the finals in their respective events, with Morgan advancing to Saturday's 1,500 meter national final while Peet makes Saturday's finals in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.

Morgan qualified for the final of the men's 1,500-meter national championship for the second straight season, crossing the finish line in 3:55.33 in the second of two heats. Morgan finished fifth in his heat, but qualifies as one of the top four times among all entrants that did not finish within the top four of their respective heats.

Other qualifiers for the final include Isaac Garcia-Casani of SUNY Geneseo, Jeremy Hernandez of Ramapo, Matt Molinaro of Ohio Northern, Nick Matteucci and Ethan Brodeur of Washington University in Saint Louis, Joshua Schraeder and Sam Hinz of Wisconsin – La Crosse, Tristan Colaizzi of Williams, Jeffrey Dover of Christopher Newport, Noah Falasco of RPI and Jack Pinho of Springfield. 

The 1,500-meter final will begin at 1:25 p.m. ET on Saturday afternoon (May 26).

In his first outdoor national championships appearance, Peet finished seventh in the second heat of the the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:19.62. Peet also qualifies as one of the top four times among entrants that did not finish within the top four of their respective heats.

Other qualifiers for the final include Polo Burguete of DePauw, Thomas D'Anieri of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, Parker Rosenau of St. Thomas (Minn.), Dan O'Keefe of North Central (Ill.), Daniel Rosen of Pomona-Pitzer, Mark Fairley of Central College, Alex Smith of York (Pa.), Aidan Gilson of MIT, Scott Mason of Connecticut College, Sam Brunnette of Plymouth State, Zach Shoemaker-Allen of Wisconsin – La Crosse, Brandon Wilkerson of Augustana (Ill.) and Caleb Ferguson of Calvin.

The junior will compete in the steeplechase final at 12:30 p.m. ET on Saturday afternoon. The top eight finishers in Saturday's event finals will garner All-America status.

Tomorrow's action on the track features Liam Lynch in the 800 meter prelims. Heats for the event will begin at approximately 6 p.m. ET.
