Full CoSIDA Release

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Haverford juniors Dylan Gearinger and Graham Peet joined senior Henry Woods on the 2017-18 Google Cloud CoSIDA Men's Cross Country/Track & Field Academic All-District team, the organization announced on Tuesday afternoon. Gearinger and Peet take home the award for the first time while Woods is a repeat winner after also taking home the honor last May. To be considered for the CoSIDA Academic All-District designation, a student-athlete must have sophomore standing and a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or higher.

Gearinger capped an outstanding junior campaign with Mideast Region Track Athlete of the Year honors for the outdoor season. The indoor 3,000-meter national champion emerged as one of the top distance runners in the nation in his junior campaign. Gearinger captured both the 5,000-meter and 10,000 meter titles at the Centennial Conference Outdoor Championships, becoming the conference's Track Performer of the Year in the conference in the process.

His outdoor distance double came off the heels of the Indoor Conference Performer of the Year designation and an illustrious junior track campaign that included four Centennial Conference Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week awards and eight total event titles. Gearinger, of Berwick, Pa. also earned All-Mideast Regional honors and First-team All-Centennial Conference during the cross country season, twice picking up Athlete of the Week designation.

Peet was named to All-America honors in the steeplechase as he crossed the finish line in a time of 9:14.11 in the national championship. The third place finish was the best for a Haverford runner in the event since Grant Scott was the national runner-up in the 2006 season. Peet was the Mideast Region Athlete of the Year in cross country in addition to an All-Mideast Region selection in both the indoor and outdoor track seasons. The Vashon, Wash. product excelled academically as he was named the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Co-Performer of the Year for cross country and was the Centennial Conference's Scholar Athlete of the Year.

Woods repeated the CoSIDA Academic All-District selection from the 2016-17 season after finishing his Haverford career with the Varsity Cup award given to the top overall athlete in the senior class at Haverford. Woods was also awarded a prestigious NCAA postgraduate scholarship in March, becoming the first cross country honoree from Haverford since both Avi Bregman and Chris Stadler received postgraduate scholarships in 2014.

The New Yorker was an All-America selection in cross country for the second-straight season in 2017, helping Haverford to an eighth place finish at the national meet. Woods was also named the Centennial Conference Runner of the Year after capturing the conference's individual crown in October of 2017. A three-time NCAA qualifier in track & field, Woods has been named to the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area team for the last three running seasons.

The trio are now eligible for the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot, where first, second and third team All-America honorees will be voted on into early June. Grant Scott was the last Haverford Academic All-American recipient from Men's Track & Field, taking the honor in 2006.
